Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are excited to host the very first Space Operations conference virtually (SpaceOps 2021- Virtual Edition) since the inception of the Space Ops conference in 1990. This international forum has always been an exciting conference for space operations experts, offering discussions on state-of-the-art operations principles, methods, and tools. In addition, delegates in the space industry are also given an opportunity to foster managerial and technical interchange on all aspects of space mission operations, including areas such as robotics, human, earth-orbiting, and deep space aspects of space operations.
It is unfortunate that as a planet, we are faced with a global pandemic which makes it impossible for us to meet physically, but Exco felt that it was important to continue hosting the conference even if on a virtual platform, so we don’t stop engaging as a SpaceOps community. Furthermore, the conference theme “Beyond Boundaries to Human Endeavours” motivated us to host this virtual conference, highlighting that we should not be limited by our physical boundaries to engage on a matters which relates to space and our future.
SpaceOps 2021- Virtual Edition! The 16th International Conference on Space Operations will allow us to reach a far bigger audience that would not normally attend the physical conference due to finances or time availability. We are pleased that the virtual conference will be free of charge, making access and participation for delegates easy.
The local organizing committee has been working very hard behind the scenes to bring you an engaging and interesting programme during the conference; from the opening ceremony, technical and industry presentations, plenary sessions, closing, and awards ceremony.
On behalf of Space Ops, the Local Organising Committee, and the South African National Space Agency (SANSA), we look forward to hosting you during the SpaceOps 2021- Virtual Edition!
Chairman, SpaceOps 2021 Conference Committee
